I’ve spent the last week playing Jedi survivor. I played through on the standard difficulty (Jedi Knight). I thought the story was compelling and interesting enough to keep me wanting to progress further. The devs did an amazing job of making each location feel alive and apart of a planet. That’s due to the characters feeling unique and believable in the Star Wars universe. Planets with unique ecosystems and environments that just feel like star wars. There’s two main antagonistic factions you fight against in addition to the wildlife. All of these groups will have interactions together in gameplay, I loved the variety of choice given to the player with how to approach any scenario. The force powers mixed with the different styles of combat create a lot of freedom in how you play. Customization in the game is really good, not perfect, but still really good. I just wish the level of customization allotted for outfits was up to par with the customization for equipment. (There are still many options for outfits, just when it comes to color schemes, you have to pick a preset color scheme. Where as with the equipment you can choose what colors you want between multiple color sets). My play through had very few bugs or performance issues, however it wasn’t zero. Two or three times when my character was doing a finishing move, the game would show both characters floating while performing the finisher. This would take me out of the immersion, but the game was still so good dispute that, that it would suck me right back into it. The game also crashed on me twice in post game while I was trying to find collectibles. With only being able to save when you interact with a meditation spot, I ended up losing about an hour total of progress between the two crashes. Where the game shines the most though is gameplay itself. Everything flows together so well and is introduced to the player in a way that was fun and not overwhelming. The map design is very creative and lifelike. Lightsaber battles feel intense and rewarding. Boss battles are challenging and engaging. There’s a lot in this game to be enjoyed. If you’re looking for a good single player game, this is definitely a solid choice. Although if you’re a star wars fan, then it’s a must play.
