This film doesn't need much of an introduction. Termed as the scariest movie of it's time, it is a big name in the horror movie genre. It may not be one of the scariest films of all time but the masterfully executed storyline with a new ideology made it all the more famous. Dealing heavily with Christianity and possession, it also explored science and psychology upto an extent. The screen presence of all the actors involved is compelling which makes the movie more believable. The plot unfolds slowly with character buildup, so it may seem a bit slow in the beginning but it gains pace towards the second half. I think it would be safe to say that you're not a horror fan if you haven't watched this movie.

When you think of Sweden what mostly comes to mind is beautiful landscapes, amazing cheese and ideal vacation destination. When four friends plan to go to Sweden for a vacation, they intend to join in the local festivities not knowing that the future holds something sinister. As the story unfolds the rituals become more and more repugnant, giving warning signs repeatedly. Dealing with an emotionally unstable, clingy girlfriend and continually being under the influence of shroom interferes with logical thinking. The depiction of psychedelic imagery is entrancing and sets the atmosphere for whatever is about to take place. It may sound funny upto an extent but Midsommar can essentially be described as a Break up gone extremely bad. The Catharsis experienced by the viewers through the eyes of the female lead at the conclusion of the movie is unreal and oddly satisfying. It's worth a watch if you can handle morbidity and gore. Yet another film that is a book adaptation. As the movie starts it seems that this will be another one of those crime thriller movies. As the plot thickens, our heroine meets Dr. Hannibal Lecter and that's when the real mind twisting games begin. The portrayal of Lecter by Anthony Hopkins is so fierce that it gives me goosebumps even thinking about the character. Lecter's character is so complex, intelligent and dark which led to some of the most memorable dialogues in the film. The gruesome visuals of murders encountered by the protagonist while tracking a serial killer "Buffalo Bill" is not for people with weak hearts. Overall, It's so meticulous that it's impossible to find any flaws at all.

The film revolves around the famous subject of the Antichrist. A seemingly innocent child who turns out to be sinister. Mysterious deaths, scary hounds appearing out of nowhere, satanic omens follow the main premise of this movie. This movie turned out to be a massive hit among horror fans and led to many remakes and sequels later on. Many notions associated with satanism were first portrayed in this movie. It's a must watch for all horror fans.

In this film, three timelines run parallel to each other which makes the story pretty confusing at first. As the movie progresses, things begin to fall in place. The character buildup is marvellous and we can easily observe the transition from innocent to a dark, demented personality. The setting couldn't be any better; an empty Catholic school with a handful of nuns and just two students, that too in the peak of winter sends a sense of foreboding that something very wrong is about to take place.The atmosphere plays a major role in establishing the eeriness associated with the movie. Pair it with excellent acting and you get a masterpiece. This film is not everyone's cup of tea since it needs quite a lot of patience and appreciation of slow burn horror. With that being said, if you are more into cryptic horror, where the supernatural entity is unseen till the end and left upto your imagination to carve out, this is an amazing watch.

With the hype that the movie got, I had quite some expectations from the movie. I have to say the experience was disappointing for me as it failed to deliver. Few minutes into the movie and i could make out the entire story. The starting was slightly promising but moving further, the chills were ineffective and storytelling Unengaging. Apart from the brilliant setting that has been presented in the movie and the message that has been conveyed....it was pretty dull watch.

The ninety minutes I was watching this movie, 40 we're spent thinking about how her mom is obsessed with getting her married and the rest laughing on the extremely weird storyline. So girls,when looking at a potential guy to be your future significant other, keep in mind to check that he's not your mom's ex. (That's as ridiculous as it sounds) Keeping in mind the "punarjanam" Stupidity, there are so many plot holes in this movie. Why would a girl, who has worked hard each day of her life to establish a career, leave her job for a man she just met. Why? Also I understand that the trauma experienced by her mom due to her abusive ex...and yet she's asking her daughter to go for an "arranged marriage"having absolutely no idea how the boy might actually turn out to be. The only thing good about this movie is probably the social message that is conveyed at the end... That's all.

One of the latest installments in the Ju On franchise, this 6 episode series comes as an origin story to the infamous ju on curse. The storyline spans across decades and the development takes place extremely slowly. The events that occur in the house keep taking place free from the restraint of time, much like a time loop. Origins was supposed to answer many questions about how the curse started in the first place and provide an explanation to the supernatural murders occurring in the house but it just leaves the viewers hanging. In a way this impacts the viewer even more as no closure is provided and things are left open ended. Rather than being scary, the story portrays the horrors of human nature only to be enhanced by these grudge bearing spirits. The gore factor is commendable but due to the style of storytelling, events get pretty confusing. There are no jump scares whatsoever. If one is a fan of horror movies with detailed storylines and complicated background, it's definitely worth a watch.

This Polish horror takes you back to a nostalgic walk down 'Friday the 13th' Lane, except that this time it's a bunch of Technology addicted teens who are in rehab. These kids try to outrun a deformed, mentally unstable man on a killing spree. With suspicious locals blocking their path, it's quite predictable as to what is the fate of the four. The film is surplus with horror as you'd expect and fulfills all the horror movie clichès. As one nerd very skilfully describes, that in Horror movies there are six deadly sins - Curiosity, Disbelief, Confidence, Unattractive people never survive, Sex. One by one we see all of them coming true.
