Shavonne Ruffin

When the movie ended, my first thought was, "It was no Selena." The casting just didn't do it for me. I think Clive and Cissy, along with John Houston did well, but Whitney and Bobby seemed off. No one is going to get it 100% correct but when I look at Ray Charles, Selena, Muhammad Ali, Malcom X, Tupac, James Brown and Ike and Tina it was hard to tell the actors from the real people because of their mannerisms. I think Whitney's mannerisms were a bit forced. Also, I would have liked to have seen things like when she was caught with drugs in Hawaii or when she missed Clive's induction to the Hall of Fame. I would even liked to see more about her relationship with Robyn and the cops interactions with Bobby. The story line felt a bit flat and not on key. I will watch it again but it didn't do get justice.
