Okay, to start, I enjoy action, spy movies and shows. They do not have to be perfect or great for me to go for the ride with the story.
This show is the cotton candy of the spy show genre. Not going to sustain you but is fun nonetheless.
LIKES: Doesn't take much paying attention. You can do other things while watching. Some funny moments. Low gore level. (I am frankly tired of the new trend that the more gore is shown, the better and more edgy a show is.) I like the main character's moral compass. I love the character of Amelia. She is wonderful. I appreciate the inclusion of the truck driver's daughter. Gives some depth and nuance to the story.
DISLIKES: Absolutely ridiculous concept! In what world would a brand new, untrained LAWYER be sent out or allowed into the field to do anything on his own? And they keep sending lawyers out to the field like they belong there. stupid. On so many levels. The characters, for all of their supposed intelligence (they are lawyers after all) do the dumbest sh- imaginable. None of them have any level of self-preservation. SPOILER WARNING! Owen thinks flying to a black site with no other support or clearance is a reasonable idea. His co-workers think that sending him there, into hostile territory is a funny prank. Dude could die. It's beyond far-fetched. The ex-gf/roommate... don't get me started. What a moron. I lost all sympathy for her really quickly. She flies to another country to help her CIA employed roommate?? What did she think she could do other than screw things up or risk her own life. Then, once she realizes she has messed things up more by just being there, she meddles even further by having her mother ask around about him. It's a CIA operation and she is a civilian with nothing to offer the situation. Hannah's behavior is the epitome of a massively privileged Gen Z-er who has no concept that anything exists beyond her own needs/wants. Just stupid. No one who has ever seen a single spy movie would have made the choices these characters make.
If you can suspend logic and accept that the characters have zero scruples, you'll be able to enjoy this little bit of spy fluff for what it is.
