RIPLEY
IT’s being a while since I’ve seen such a complete movie. A beautiful, noir like composition , full of supposedly trivial, important details. The cinematography is majestic, the shots are heaven. Italy in the early 60’s, so artistically depicted through the lens of director Steven Zaillian. Every shot is exquisite, you feel it deep inside your core, raw and fascinating. I was at awe experiencing so much beauty in such a cold blooded story. Even the slightest detail projects artistic structure.
Andrew Scott is the heavyweight character of this slow, but in crescendo tension film. John Flynn’s character is intentionally bland contributing to highlight Andrew Scott’s Tom Ripley sick, twisted mind. Loved Dakota Fanning’s Marge; silent, discreet, her face and her demeanor told the story, minimalist approach. The Talented Mr. Ripley is a great movie, probably more true to the book, but the Ripley series is a magnificent work of art. Accolades.
