So far, Abed does not reflect well on Palestinian values and culture. The woman that he has loved for years is discovered to be involved in a years long family-to-family dispute, so he quickly marries a woman he knows nothing about, out of anger and revenge. After producing four daughters with this wife he never loved, he decides to move on...as he is allowed to have four wives after all. And guess what? Divorced women are not allowed custody of their children...so his second wife becomes the mother of these four daughters. Misogyny is alive and well in Palestine. I'll up or downgrade my rating when I finish the book.
