First off, it's a musical, so the folks saying there are too many songs absolutely flabbergast me. What the heck did you expect? Have you never seen a musical before? I found the songs to be some of the best parts of the movie. They're still running through my head, and I watched it a week ago. The choreography was wonderful, and I was surprised how well the whole cast did with dancing part. Especially tap.
Loved that it wasn't the same old Christmas Carol. This is coming from a person who rereads the book every year, and considers it their favorite book. It's nice to see a twist on the traditional story. For me, it was kind of like Scrooged with musical numbers.
Very confused by all the negative reviews that say it isn't Elf. It's not supposed to be - apples to oranges. I'm not really a fan of Elf. It's cute, but I think it's way overrated. Will Ferrell is so over the top in that movie, which is one of the reasons I don't like the movie much. In this, he's way less manic. I love him in Spirited. I agree with other commenters who say it's not for little kids due to language and themes, but I think older kids would enjoy it. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will likely watch it again this year.
