Bubba Ray Biscuit

I rarely put down a book. This is one I’m giving up on. I’m 2/3 of the way in and cannot will myself to push any further. The characters have no discernible arc and far from being relatable, most are simply irritating. The plot line meanders in a curving trail of random and repeated themes. Normally I enjoy historical fiction, but as others have mentioned there are times it seems the characters are in the wrong genre. The entire story seems to be a thinly veiled political statement that has utterly failed to grab my interest. Having read previous titles by the author, I expected more.
