This film is comparable to Woody Allen's films Manhattan, Everyone Says I Love You, and Midnight in Paris. It might not be quite as good as any of them but it gets pretty close for someone on his 49th film at which point you don't expect to be enchanted. This film in enchanting. It's fast paced and funnier than anything he's done since Midnight in Paris (2011). The soundtrack is the best since Magic in the Moonlight (2014) and features incredible piano work by Erroll Garner (especially "Misty") which is going to consume me until I have it all. Another treat is the film settings in New York City's hotels and bars drenched in beautiful murals. The ensemble acting is first rate; even brief bit parts come off as hilarious. Of course, it's a love story with ricocheting come-ons and lovers triangles and then some. But there's a subplot as well about high society and people who don't want to fit into that scene.
We should all have such an exciting rainy day as this film provides.
