Oof. I wanted to like this but from start to finish it was underwhelming. The acting was rough, Mulan had no personality. The focus on chi I felt took away from Mulan’s character and made it less about her. The Phoenix felt forced and unnecessary. The scene transitions were confusing. Anticlimactic all around. I feel like equality was completely brushed over and wasn’t even something on mulan’s mind. The input of Xianniang‘s character I feel was only to pass the bechdel test, the character felt forced and unnecessary to me. In conclusion, it had potential but they really dropped the ball
