I so wanted this to be interesting. It wasn’t except for Jon Cryer announcing he wasn’t a member (love him), the John Hughes footage and all the snippets from back in the day. Weird cinematography. And interview style.
I couldn’t follow what Andrew McCarthy was trying to “get to”. They were offended by being referred to as brats, was it a redemption arc? What was the Timothy Hutton interview about. So and so refuses to be interviewed, I’m chasing Judd Nelson.
Seems like he was chasing a scandal that didn’t exist. Like any group - some fires burn incredibly bright - Tom Cruise. Some are mid bright - Rob Lowe. Some have a moment - Emilio. Yet at their apex they were an undeniably magical group of young actors at a magical time in life. Theirs and ours. The 80’s were amazing. Culture, music et al. And every single one of them was lymphatic to that experience. I just wanted to celebrate that magic. Felt like he didn’t.
