I’ve been a massive fan of The Weeknd and after listening to this album since the release, I can strongly say this is one of my favorite albums of all time.
From start to finish, it felt like an experience. Right from the start the vibes were there with the whole album sounding like a radio station from a cyberpunk universe. It was incredible and I’m a huge fan of futuristic stuff so this was even more special to me.
Dawn FM is a top 3 opening track for me
Gasoline is a perfect transition after Dawn FM with some of my favorite vocals from the Weeknd
How do I make you love me is a nice mellow track with some crazy good synths
Take My Breath is an incredible track with a good mix of moody and dance.
Sacrifice is a groovy, striking track that gives me massive MJ vibes
The music in the background of A Tale by Quincy is actually one of my favorites on the album. A light, dream-like sound that perfectly matches the mood of Quincy Jones’ story
Out of Time is one of my favorite Weeknd songs with stunning vocals and incredible beat
Here we go again is a good track that gives me the darkest vibe on the album with one of The Weeknd’s best singing, specifically in the chorus.
Best Friends had a great, heavy synth in the beginning with the best transition into the next song
Is There Someone Else is a good track with an addictive beat
Starry Eyes to me sounds like a interlude and has a spacey, sad sound to it.
Every Angel is Terrifying is an incredible interlude-like track with stellar synth work and a crazy, soul-lifting build up into the radio ad straight out of Cyberpunk 2077.
Don’t break my heart is a nice, soft track with a slight, haunting feel to it
I heard your married is one of my favorite songs on the album with a catchy hook and chorus
Less than Zero is a completely different vibe from the rest of the album. It is easily one of my favorites one the album with a super catchy chorus
Phantom Regret by Jim is an incredible closing poem that on more listens had only made me feel more and more emotional when I listen to it.
Dawn FM is a masterpiece in terms of world building, production and sound. This will continue to be on my repeat for years to come.
