I went into the film expecting a good time and good laugh. I wasn't expecting a story with a feel-good, highly relatable plot; in fact, in some parts, I teared up.
As someone of Indigenous Ancestry, but has no home community, and whose family was always told to hide the 'Indian,' this film meant a whole lot and made me feel seen.
It is a uniquely 80's, uniquely Canadian perspective on a different time.
Every character is fleshed out and has a purpose. The practical effects are top notch. The cinematography and music are great. It's a story with heart and felt like a love letter from Paul Spence to the audience.
Whether you go in looking for a good laugh, or something more, you won't be disappointed.
I sincerely hope people give this a chance and go see it this weekend. It deserves the support.
