I am extremely grateful that I chose to save the 44 dollars it would have costed to go and see this movie in person. I instead chose to stream it online. Although the actors gave their absolute best performances, this movie fell flat in comparison to the first Joker movie. I tried my best to look past the fact that this was a musical, for no reason other than perhaps Lady Gaga’s involvement. Unfortunately I could not, as all the musical numbers were similar enough that they had no impact on the movie as a whole. I was expecting more to have happened in the plot, but at various points that the story could have picked up, it did not. It reminded me in part of a documentary about a serial killer, instead of the origin stories of one of Gotham’s greatest villains. The two stars I think this movie deserves are for the stellar symbolism and the talented actors, both of which saved the other competing elements from creating a complete disaster.
