It's hard to see one of your favorite and iconic entertainers bio movie. AND I HATE HOLLYWOOD AND THEIR AGENDAS. I wasn't impressed with Jennifer's singing style AT ALL to give Aretha's songs justice. I felt like i was watching karaoke!! For Aretha, the BEST needs to be brought to the forefront!!!! Aretha's voice was angelic and fell in all the right places. Jennifer was trying hard and reaching AND dragging to the notes of these songs! I hated the writers i feel like this movie had agenda written all over it. Alabama is known during that time of rapes of our women but they glossed over that and put more emphasis on the abusive husband? Why would you showcase Aretha's involvement in the HUMAN RIGHTS MOVEMENT...(that time shouldn't have been called civil people were getting LYNCHED WITH LICENSE) yet you gloss over the racism and passively aggressively ONLY focus on the abusive husband? YES we needed to know that HOWEVER HER INVOLVEMENT IN THE MOVEMENT SHOULD'VE BEEN INCLUDED AND HER EXPERIENCES WITH RACISM AND THEY couldn't follow the storyline!! WHO RAPED HER? Secret circles were saying that her father was responsible however I have no idea. I COULD NOT TAKE MR. UGLY MAN marlon wayans serious at all. I LOVED THAT MY GIRL MARY, made an appearance. Mary's cover of NATURAL WOMAN was pristine compared to Jennifer's.
