I thought it was a mess. OK Philip K Dicks philosophy was 'every answer leads to more questions' but this was just sloppy. A fundamental question like did the Crown Price survive was never answered. If so why was the Crown Princess suddenly taking on his role? When Hitler died there would have been a HUGE mourning period - he passed away virtually unmentioned. His passing was simply a plot device to move things on. Why would the Japanese Government had over power to the BCR? There would have been dozens of groups grappling for power. Invading other worlds? The alt world on the other side of the portal had Hydrogen weapons!! How could they invade such a well armed world with many more armies and an abundance of superior weaponry? You would think the alt world might be capable of detecting the portal as well. Ridiculous. The Nazi elite seemed curiously tame as well - people met The Fuhrer and treated him like a small time town hall dignitary. The whole explanation for the appearance of the alt world visitors with films was absolute garbage. Why not bring some books, newspapers and magazines with you and distribute them amongst the population? Surely a lot more effective and dangerous to the Axis than a few silent films that hardly anyone saw. Began promisingly but turned into a plot hole laden pot boiler that eventually ran out of steam. Could have been great. Shame.

I know we are not in the 60s any more.Very different audiences. Very different writers. Very different times. BUT....I think Strange New worlds is the most yawn some garbage I have seen in ages. I really, really don't watch Star Trek to see agonisingly tedious 'character development' and utterly out of control special effects. Most shows are about the relationship between the characters Star Trek included but Star Trek also had edge and action. Where is the edge in this mushy, naval gazing tedious drivel? A 'fondue' type party to discuss your feelings in the Captain's New York loft style cabin? Please could you imagine Kirk, Picard or Janeway entertaining such an idea? You might one day have to sent these people on a mission that end up in their deaths. What would happen if they met The Klingons? Perhaps they would be invited to a Starfleet Anger Management Group followed by an in-depth analysis of the difficulties of being a Warrior in a time of peace. Far too much emphasis on special effects and 'feelings' no edge, no drama, no suspense and absolutely no feeling of setting out on a mission of discovery with all the triumphs and tragedies that brings.
