Many young women grow up loving this book. As one of them, I was nervous that this adaptation would disappoint; after Ladybird, I was hoping for a good film. However, this version of the well loved story builds more on the narrative than any previous. There’s modern messaging in it, without losing any of the original charm. It is a fabulous story, wonderfully told. Greta Gerwig is definitely an exceptional story teller - I can’t wait for her next film!
