Some great special effects but some of the battle scenes were too long making for a very long movie.

I really enjoyed watching the Thorn Birds. Was a great script with a stellar cast. As well as Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward, had Richard Chamberlain, Barbara Stanwick, Jean Simmonds, Chrisopher Plummer and Piper Laurie. With a cast like that how could it fail. It held my interest right through.
