It stays to far from the core material and the fungus only infects through bites and breathing in spores in the series not through means of oral transmission other than bites and Joel is smuggling ellie for an arsenal of guns not a battery. Bills Town is actually much different and plus your never suppose to see frank until after his death so the games are so much better by far while the show stays pretty far from core material and story.
