One star for Ana de Armas' awesome performance only, the movie was hot garbage.
Disrespected Marilyn and stripped her of her grace, creativity and cleverness, trasforming her into a s*xual object whose only characteristic is being mentally ill, picturing her often times crying naked while searching for approval from other men.
Technically not a biopic but: advertised as one, full of 1:1 recreation of situations in her life, shot in the actual place where she passed away. Despicable.
This is the result of when a man has the budget to take his misogynist theories from reddit to the big screen: gratuitous nakedness of the (almost only) female character, fetishisation of mental illness, pro-life propaganda delivered through intense and grotesque CGI scenes, scenes that are closer to p0rnography than actual Hollywood movies, and much more.
Marilyn (and Ana de Armas) deserved better.
Maybe next time the director should be someone who actually watched at least one of Marilyn's movies.
