I recently watched Coolie, and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed. I had expected something in the zone of a Lokesh Kanagaraj film, but it ended up feeling more like a Nelson-style entertainer flashy in parts, but lacking emotional depth and narrative grip.
Rajinikanth delivered a solid performance and carried the film with his presence. The retro flashback portions were enjoyable, but the film felt too long with an overload of fight sequences that could have easily been trimmed by 30 minutes.
The character roles felt weak, and some roles seemed included just to widen the appeal rather than serve the story. Aamir Khanโs role, in particular, felt wasted and added little value. The comedy was hit-or-miss, and the screenplay lacked consistency.
The interval scene had potential but fell short it was nowhere near the impact of Vikramโs iconic interval block. That said, there was a twist in the plot that genuinely worked and added some intrigue.
Soubinโs acting was one of the standout performances natural and impactful. And while Nagarjuna stylish appearance and strong screen presence left a lasting impression.
Final Verdict: Coolie is a average movie one-time watch. While Rajinikanth, Soubin, and a few moments shine, the film overall struggles with pacing, character depth, and missed potential.
