It is a great film. Those who call it muddled are, themselves, muddled. It is about all the great themes of mankind, the acting is marvelous, and it hits no false notes. Roger would have given it four stars. If his successor, who gave it two, was twice as smart as he is, he'd be a halfwit.

A very good film that accomplishes all its goals. It's an action film of the revenge variety, with a good script, good acting, excellent fight choreography, and decent directing and production. The fact that so many reviewers compare it to other Jackie Chan films seems silly. How about comparing it to James Bond films because Brosnan's in it? Just as silly.

This film is a love song to Hong Kong in the guise of a romantic comedy. It isn't really trying to be a great love story. The two leads are good young actors who have very good chemistry, which isn't easy to achieve. The dialogue might seem pedestrian to some, but it seems realistic. Certainly, the generation depicted is obsessed with propriety and ritual. That's fine, but it might bore some viewers. A solid, good small film.
