A thoughtful and entertaining book about the oldest reincarnated soul alive. Milo. He must reach perfection/enlightenment before it's too late. A sometimes comical and sometimes gritty novel about what it takes to be truly altruistic and also what it means to be human. There is also the aspect of love with Death itself, which keeps the story charming as well. One of my favorite books to date. It's one of the most creative works I've read, with different lives coming through as fast paced but also believable in the human mannerisms of both Milo and the other characters. It was well done for being such a broad topic of so many lives lived, without it coming off as too much information or dragging in any parts. Some may say this is a bit too flippant of a take on reincarnation and the afterlife, but I feel that speaks volumes, because life, and humans, are like that. Full of mistakes and desires, with genuine concern and altruism at times, then dishing out greed and cruelty at other times. It felt both entertaining and real, no matter the bizarre or fantastical the reincarnation, without it coming off as too simple or self indulgent coming from the author. I truly appreciate that in a book. Worth a read, if not only for the laughs.
