NUSRAT HUQ

As it is written from the point of view of a little boy, there is no reason to wonder if his views are biased. It is a narration of his experiences and his feelings which reflect the confusion he felt for being suddenly regarded as an enemy and unwanted outsider in 1971.

It is an amazing book. I now know the importance of trees in our lives and how man is destroying the earth by chopping down trees which are our really our lifeline. The characters, specially the odd ones are interesting and even obsessed, but we do come across them in our lives. The author's research is very thorough. Most of all, his language is as magnificent as the redwood trees.

I really enjoyed the deep emotions portrayed in the book. Jokha is a very sensitive writer and understands matters of the heart.
