I'm feeling quite heartbroken this is so bad. I love Shane Meadows, and can see the calibre of actors many of which have worked in this ad lib style before meant it should have been better.
I didn't know the story, but was immediately intrigued by it and the modern day parrallel. But 15 mins in i was feeling my interest drift, googled reviews and was reassured by many good ones so soldiered on.
Ep 1 down (over two sittings as it held that little of my attention) and I'm out. Folk are moaning about the slow pace and volume of swearing, but I'm good for that, for me it's that the dialogue is truly abysmal. Yes some are arguing this is more in line with how people would have spoke, but honestly half the time the actors looked like they were searching for something to say, and it felt stilted. I cringed at how amateur dramatics it was. Sad times.
