Top Gear (formally); Grand Tour (recently): Question that my wife & I both have asked (unsuccessfully), "Why do broadcasters feel the viewing public's attention is increased by raising the volume so loud that it actually hurts our ears during the advertisements?" "Why do broadcasters raise the volume to the point that the background sounds are so loud that they drown out the dialog during the shows?" It is not isolated to Grand Tour, but seems to be prevalent throughout the industry. My wife was run out of the living room during G-T, S3-E10, while we tried to listen to the dialog on the show. She left, I stayed but turned the volume down so much that I could not hear it.
a thought: when Top Gear was on, I watched all of the shows that I was able, but I always referred back to TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES publication: Top Gear 'go faster stuff' for our 500cc & 650cc motorcycles. I still have a couple that are about 60 years old, that became the 'Wish Book' so long ago.
