Candice Groves

Perhaps one of my all-time favorite French films! The complete story is masterfully written, but you absolutely must watch the first part, Jean de Florette, before you start this one to truly appreciate the writing of Marcel Pagnol. (And I recommend watching them back to back.) There is some brief full female nudity about 11 minutes into the film, so keep that in mind if you are showing it to teens or kids, but otherwise, it is the epitome of irony and human nature in all of its many facets. Truly a beautiful 2-part series of films!

This is a truly fantastic film, but don't stop here. Manon des Sources (part 2) is seriously even better than this one. Pay attention to the details...you will be glad you did when you watch the second part.
