Overall, I like the movie, it is a healthy movie to watch, but.... When we first watched the show Magic school bus Ride Again, it was good. It was pleasant to watch it. With new technology, the movie was drawn beautifully and Ms. Frizzle was a very good teacher, she’s free and she cares for the students. The movie cares about the children who watch it. There is no bullying, no bad words, informative, and there are different children from different backgrounds. It is educational movie. However, after watching day after day and from morning to night, you begin to detect some problems. First, there is the introducing of authority. Ms. Fiona Frizzle always quoted. Quotation is a symptom of authority. You want the kids not to think for themselves, but to copy and to assume that the one who being quote is right. At first it seems to be funny, but I think we should not be funny at all cost. We can find another way to make the movie fun without introducing authority. Ms. Professor Frizzle, the word "professor" and "PhD" also implies authority. When there is authority, there is no cuteness. The old movie Magic school bus was cute because there was no authority, the moment Netflix introduced authority, they took away the cuteness of the movie. And this is no good for the generation that is watching the movie. The next problem is, the voice. In the old school bus movie, the people who voiced DA, Wanda... were at the same age with the characters, they were about 10 to 11 years old, they talked slowly and they didn't have to try hard, it is relax to hear their voices. But in the Ride Again, they chose people who range from 18 to 22 years old to voice the 5th grade students. Consequently, the movie has efficiency, fluency, but it lacks cuteness of the kids who are at the correct age. The characters talk quick, fast, talk a lot... but they talk continuously at high pitch. What happen to you when you have to hear a song with only high pitch and without any rest between two notes? A proper song is a song with low and high pitches, and there are rest between notes. And amazingly, they are so alike each other. In the old movie, DA’s voice is totally different from Wanda or Arnold… But in the new movie, all voices sound the same, high pitch… One more thing, when you hear the voice long enough, you began to see that they are pretending. Ms. Frizzle is trying too hard to be funny, and therefore she is pretending. Arnold is supposed to be a gentle character, he worries all the time for safety… but if you hear the voice, sometimes the character’s voice is very aggressive which doesn’t match the character of Arnold. Other characters are aggressive too. In the old movie, Wanda was aggressive, but DA was not… they were different. But in the Ride Again, all characters are the same, there are no difference between them.
