Bry (Bry)

Not one of Stephen King's best. Perhaps that's because it isn't based on a novel, but rather was written as a made for TV mini series. It's a good movie. Don't get me wrong. It just has a rather vague premise & isn't completely engrossing like some of his other mini series, such as Rose Red and The Stand. Those are movies I'll rewatch from time to time. Storm Of The Century is probably a one-time watch for me. The acting ranges from good to passable. Jeffery DeMunn as Robbie has a poor Boston accent that comes and goes. Most of the female roles are played by women who must have been friends of the casting director. Compare that to the great acting in the original version of The Stand.

I like the original, but I always found it more campy then anything. I think the people who didn't like the reboot feel that way because Robert Englund isn't Freddy. This new "Nightmare" is creepier, scarier & more in-depth than the original. J.E. Haley is one hell of an actor! I found him to be, at times, down-right terrifying, where Robert Englund made me laugh. The things Haley said, & the way he said them, really got under my skin. That's how I like my horror movies, actually scary!
