This was an excellent film. I can’t believe it is only 83% on rotten tomatoes. For comparison, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also received an 83%, but I thought this was leaps and bounds better.
The acting, soundtrack, and plot set this one apart for me. In addition, the themes that were explored also made this one an instant classic. A few of the themes include friendship, perseverance, integrity, imagination, and optimism.
Timothée Chalamet does an incredible job in this. I prefer him to Depp in their roles as Wonka. But maybe it is also just a difference between a lighter and darker movie.
