It was... definitely something I have never seen before in my life. I will give them that. Lots of suspense, jump scares, ......then a random song number? Then bone cracking, “human stabbed to pulp” gore. Then it gets going, but instead of being scary in a creative way, they insert invasive, non consensual, sexual molestation scenes (and *trigger warning* alluded rape and sex slavery). if one thing is for sure, A24 helped me define my “horror movie” boundaries with this one. Mixing cruel grisly sexual assault into a gore slasher is kind of a cheap scare in my opinion? As a woman, I just don’t find entertainment in portrayals of sexual violence. A little too close to home on what my idea of ACTUALLY scary is. I left the theater feeling violated. It honestly kinda f**ked me up. I saw the movie hours ago and I’m still queasy.
