So,in simple words,Bala is a movie built on a wonderful concept that is very important to address, not only in India, but in the whole world.
The entire idea behind this "baldness", rather the "imperfections of a human being" concept has been utilized really well & portrayed so boldly and effectively that it actually ends up being a bit disturbing which is in fact what it is meant to be.
The storyline is kept simple yet interesting enough and the crucial message is woven beautifully into it,specially the characters which are in fact contrasting each other & give the audience a clear demarcation between the two kinds of worlds the director and story-writer want us to see. Also keeping in mind to not let the audience feel bored by sprinkling in to the recipe, adequate jokes, gags, hilarious situations as well as cringy behavior of it's characters, which do make you laugh & have a fun time.
The Kanpuriya accent is just spot on,Ayushmann's mimicry is enjoyable & the throwback to some old bollywood songs does add that extra flavour to the overall active screenplay.
But at some places, the movie does end up being way too cringy & certain jokes do fall flat specially 30 mins before intermission, probably due to overdoing it. But that's not too much of a problem, rather where the movie does end up being a bit underwhelming is the fact that I couldn't connect too much to it, it was all fun & frolic but the emotional connect was lacking to a certain extent, apart from the last 30 mins of it's ending where it hit the spot accurately and the climax was(rather unexpectedly) brilliant !
The movie spends time on certain things way too much than it should hence reducing the time for things which needed more emphasis, specially towards the end, which though wasn't too long yet felt overstretched simply due to it's overlong preceding events.
The director sort of loses control in some parts but overall has done a fine job in bringing everything together, making sure he delivers the message as openly as possible. It's not exceptional yet commendable, could have been a bit stronger.
Ayushmann encounters known territory here & yet again pulls off the character to perfection. He has done it before & he does it again. Can't really ask for more from him.Great work !
Yami Gautam does a decent job & is able to make us giggle with her tik-tok personality but certain moments she had were way too cringy to bear(probably meant to make us feel that way). Yet the way her character contradicts the others is pretty good and helps to portray the content of this movie all the more beautifully.
Bhumi Pednekar is just fantastic, she possesses unbelievable acting skills. She has yet again outdone herself, first in Saand Ki Aankh and now here too ! But I have to admit the dusky complexion was irritating & it would have been better to take an actress whose natural skin colour was of that sort. But her character was also very well-written & enacted on screen in probably the best way possible.
Special mention of Saurabh Shukla,he is as always just too good in the few scenes he has.
Overall,Bala is really a movie this society needs ! It may not be perfect, has it's minor flaws as a film but the message it gives is so nice & equally important and it does complete justice on the "enlightening the audience" part and for that itself, it's worth watching.
It may not be a must watch kind of film(to go watch in a hall) but I would advise everyone to at least watch it once, whether in a cinema hall or on television.
It's definetly not boring, entertaining enough to watch in a hall, delivers it's delightful message with utmost sincerity & purity, yet I feel it could have been better, it could have been "outstanding" rather than being "very good" but I wouldn't take anything away from it, it portrays itself superbly as a movie and I simply loved the way it ended, the way the climax was shown, just perfection at it's very best ! 💛
