What an awesome movie! I really like the message about bringing others together through their differences. Developing more meanings in movies makes the audience think out their own lives which is a very powerful concept. Additionally, I really liked Kelly Marie Tran's performance as Dawn. Dawn is shown to be shy, but she is a quirky girl who has spent her life inside of the walls maintained by her parents. Dawn is also a compassionate and she becomes friends with Eep due to their similar interests and backgrounds. I also enjoyed Emma Stone as Eep. Eep is shown to be imaginative. But sometimes she gets really aggressive about conflicts, especially with her new boyfriend Guy because she loves him very much. Eep is extremely strong, with cat-like movements. I also really liked Nicolas Cage’s performance as Grug. Grug was portrayed as a stereotypical father towards his family. He is overprotective and worrisome about their safety. I was also amused with Clark Duke’s performance as Thunk. He is Grug’s favorite child. But when Thunk becomes disconnected from his family he realizes that he needs to be connect with his family they’re important to him. Additionally, I also really liked Ryan Reynold’s performance as Guy. He is closer to the Betterman family. Although he more than makes up for it with his intelligence and creativity with various inventions, coming up with ideas he is not very courageous. I was also impressed by Ugga’s character performed by Catherine Kenner. Ugga is a little more open-minded than Grug, but keeping the family safe stops her from trying new things. She's the caregiver of the family, making sure everyone is healthy. I also enjoyed Cloris Leachman’s performance as Gran. Gran can be pretty handy with her cane if needed. She becomes really helpful to them when they go on an adventure together and she turns both families into mighty warriors. I also liked Peter Dinklage's performance as Phil. Phil shares some of same backgrounds with Grug family. He worries about his family too. He also is overprotective of them, especially his daughter because he doesn’t want to lose her after what he hears about Guys family. He likes to keep things in order. And I also was impressed with Leslie Manns performance as Hope. Hope is like her husband. She also is very protective of her daughter, but she doesn’t like it when her husband doesn’t contribute more to the family. What I really found fascinated by this movie was that this movie did not just use english throughout the movie. They also used Punch Monkey language. In my opinion it is actually a pretty interesting language. What I also really loved about this movie was that it was emphasized that differences do matter. We need to be able to listen to other voices, even if they don’t agree with you because differences make us stronger, more creative, and more inspired. It is all these sounds and all these words that make the world a richer place. When looking at the music score, my favorite song was found in the end credits called, “I Think I Love You,” which clearly shows the film's message of that love is really powerful and can really show that differences are unique if you just get to experience it. Love is really powerful because you get to do something nice for someone else. This film is filled with community, communication, family, empathy, adventure, and faith. Thank you Dreamwork’s Studios for the astounding movie! Please keep making more films that focus on heartfelt messages which bring people together by accepting differences and hearing stories that go unnoticed.
