I went with my mom, we both had an awful time.
1) I was in a car accident that led to long-term concussion issues. If you are in that situation, I highly recommend *against* going. I had to walk out. I did not realize it would cause problems with my situation. It was beyond a sensory overload and caused a boatload of problems for me. Closing my eyes and plugging my ears did not help.
2) My mom stayed for the whole film (and i can vouch for the first 5-10 minutes i made it through)... it was WAY too loud, the music was *NOT* relaxing, and the visuals changed so often it was like he had ADHD and was tripping. Even for the "normal person", it was a lot to take in, but there was no rhyme or reason to the presentation of graphic effects. Just a bunch of incomplete thoughts thrown together.
My mom said she left it feeling angry and stressed out, not impressed or relaxed. Watching the folks coming out, those sentiments seemed common. People leaving at the films conclusion were not smiling, or stoked or even positive. One comment was that it was an hour of their life they'll never get back.
It sounds like no matter your background, don't waste your money on this movie...
