Ludicrous nonsense. Endless police brutality. Every meeting of a male character with a female character becomes sexualised within seconds. Sickening child abuse. It’s the most unrealistic revolting drivel I’ve ever watched. Whoever wrote this is a deeply disturbed, mentally ill, individual. Utter garbage. Here’s a few examples: “the police contact a medium to solve child abductions (after they’ve found the body of a child with swan wings stapled to her shoulders). The medium mentions swans, a wolf, a pig and some new carpets. The police then visit a friendly corrupt property developer (he’s laundering funds stolen by the police for their retirement - as if the police pension isn’t big enough!). The developer, Sean bean, says “do you like my new house? It’s built to look like a swan! I love swans!” His house is full of swan memorabilia including a huge stuffed swan hanging from the ceiling! The police decide not to charge him, but frame a local simpleton instead. Then there’s the “wolf”. Presumably this is why it’s called “red riding” unless it’s set in Riding in Yorkshire, who knows. It’s never made clear. Anyway the “wolf” seems to be a priest with magical powers to comfort troubled women including an investigating police officer! The framed simpleton gets a new lawyer called Piggot - the pig. The climax sees the pig lawyer carrying a smiling child out of a henhouse underground hiding place as a reformed corrupt police detective watches in astonishment. Instead of returning the abducted child to its parents he carries her off into a field! Hardly the best image to finish a drama series about abducted murdered children. Oh yeah, and while all this is going on they capture the Yorkshire Ripper!!
