Don't jump on the bandwagon and dismiss this as trash.
It's not perfect, but it's pretty good for the most part. There's some really cool moments and references from the extended universe that long term fans will like.
The overall plot is interesting and I'm left very intrigued by what will happen next.
Also the final episode has one of the best lightsaber fights in Star Wars. Plus in a different style in terms choreography and cinematography, almost a little crouching tiger or hero style, a nice nod to the Kurosawa inspiration of the original trilogy.
Also, that "quicker, more seductive" line from Yoda perfectly fits the ealy negative reviews made weeks ago. Take away the anti woke nonsense and half of the points they make are countered by later developments, and the other half are just wrong. For example, "there were no sith for 1000yrs", just needs "that the jedi knew about" added and it makes perfect sense, plus Plaguis and Sidious existed. Lots of taking particular lines and assuming that was gospel truth and not just what that character believed or thought to be true.
Also I keep seeing "there's fire in space", just google what George Lucas said about fire in space, plus three simple words and an iconic piece of cinema history..."TIE fighter noise". As someone with an astrophysics background I've got some bad news for you about most of the space stuff in Star Wars like sound, planet size and spacing, distance between systems being crossed without light speed (empire strikes back), single climate planets and another dozen or so minor technicalities, but it looks, sounds and feels cool, so it's fine. It's not apollo 13, it's Star Wars!
There's a handful of valid criticisms,
1) it starts slow with a couple of slow episodes,
2) There are lots of "throw away" characters that are only there to fill out the numbers, gave definite "red shirt" vibes,
3) theres lots of "wait...what" reveals or flip the script moments, which was cool, but felt forced at times,
4) it takes too long to give us the "pew pew, vwaum, waum, scccrit" star wars action, although when it kicks off its fantastic,
5) the "witch" stuff is initially a little out there if you haven't watched clone wars and seen the night sisters,
6) some of the dialogue could be better, there's some great stuff, but there are a few "people don't talk like that" moments.
Otherwise I thought it was great, and an interesting take on Star Wars with some cool concepts and things being shown or told "from a certain point of view".
