Powerful, intense and well worth watching. 4.5 is my actual rating of this film, for purposes of mentally and morally significant entertainment. Excellent acting, powerful and historically fraught themes, along with interesting psychological and moral issues, all well exemplified in terms of both their human importance and ultimate irresolvability. The surprise ending and minor detail and plot implausibilities are secondary and rather peripheral to the power and impact of the film’s treatment of it’s powerful human and historical themes.
How to deal with and pay back the morally disgusting actions of morally and mentally compromised people is a question that is always with us; “us“ referring here to basically decent, fair and civilized human beings. The lovely and fortunately brief troll-comment included among these reviews is itself a minor and petty example of the question arising.
