The Public is well intentioned with some good performances. The problems of homelessness and society's inadequate response are worthy of examination. As a movie, however, The Public, lacks depth and nuance. Characters are mostly stereotypes who act rather predictably. That's not to say it's not worth watching. It definitely is. The Public may not be a homerun, but it's a solid double. And those are good too.
