I was in high school when this came out. I avoided it like The Plague for over 25 years, until I caught the last third of it on a weird cable channel late one night and decided to watch it for laughs. No laughs andI got intrigued. I finally got to see it from start to finish maybe 2 years later and it was much deeper and better written and acted than I had ever imagined. The title did not do the movie justice and turned me off for far longer than I should have let it. It was not just a blaxsploitaition film.
