I don't have words to describe this novel. Such a beautiful one! It clearly explains the importance of education of women especially in India. In a society dominated by Men, a woman has to go through a lot of consequences just because she likes someone who is rich and gets married to him. Anupama who is from a very poor family, a MA student, beautiful girl, a popular drama artist having lost her mother soon after her birth makes her life difficult. She was accompanied by her father who's a school headmaster, step-mother and 3 step-sisters. On the other hand, Anand - a doctor boy profession, handsome guy with rich family background with a sister and mother, who always wanted to follow mother's instructions. After a couple of months of marriage, Anand will leave for England for his higher studies. Just after a few months, Anu observes a change in her skin colour in one of her toes. Upon checking with Doctor She gets to know that it is a skin disorder (Vitiligo) and she's broken. As soon as her mother in law gets to know that this is a Skin disorder she asks Anu to go to her Mother's home thinking it's contagious and also doubts about Anu that she has lied as she informed him only after marriage. Once Anu is out of her husband's house, She writes a couple of letters to Anand about her situation, but never gets a reply from Anand. On the other hand Anu's step sisters marriage gets cancelled as Anu had this skin disease. This makes Anu's Step-mother angry, leaving a chaotic situation at Home. As the days turn, Anu gets frustrated as the skin disease spreads to other parts of the body. She even thinks of committing suicide in a day but later She looks around the nature and gets a motivation from it. Anu decides to move to Mumbai as her close friend Leela was ready to help her. She will get a job with Leela's husband's help. Though Leela's husband calls Anu as Sister but his intentions were different. One day, when Leela was not at home, Leela's husband tries to have physical contact with Anu. Somehow she escapes this and feels terrible and petty about the society. All done, now she gets a place at her friend Dolly's house. Dolly is a colleague who was saved by Anu by donating her own blood. Now Dolly leaves her old job and gets a new job as a Sanskrit profession in a reputed college in Mumbai. In due course of time, She becomes famous in the college and she even conducts so many Sanskrit dramas in the college. One day she meets with an accident, losing her consciousness and having a fractured leg. As she gets admitted to the hospital, she meets 2 doctors named Vasanth and Satya. Vasanth is an unmarried guy from a poor background willing to go back to his village and serve his village people.  As the days pass Anupama gets better and is discharged from hospital. But Vasanth and Anu became friends as their interests match well and also Vasanth took good care of her. Meanwhile Anand tries to forget Anupama but couldn't forget her and also refuses to get married as per his mother's wish. But Anand gets to see a drama directed by Anupama in one of the doctor's functions in Mumbai. When Anand meets Anupama, She feels pity on God. As Anand wants Anu back to his house, Anu refuses to go back to his house. On the other hand, Vasanth who had feelings for Anu asks Anu if She can marry him. Though Anu had feelings for Vasanth, She refuses as she has lost all these relationships. But she will be a good friend with Vasanth.
