Spoiler alert. Well directed. Great acting, especially the boys. But there’s a lot of plot holes and contradicting moments that made you go back and forth in your mind too much. It’s good to make the audience question their current positions (the evil is real/mom is nuts) as they watch, but it gets to a point where it all starts overlapping and none of it makes any damn sense. You become exhausted by it and “check out”. The ending is terrible. It goes from psychological thriller to corny sci-fi. The mom transforms into a snake monster and then just evaporates. It’s bad, really bad. It had a lot of potential. The doubtful boy could have just ran away from home and realized his mom and younger brother are lost causes- and it’s not the end of the world. It would have been a much more satisfying resolution.
