Aubrey Plaza made her big break in Parks and Recreation as the dour intern April Ludgate. The constraints of her hole hid a talent that we see more fully in this uncomprising thriller about a girl struggling to get an even break due to a criminal record. Mounting debts see her going down the road of crime and on a downward trajectory. Plaza is excellent in the lead role while Theo Rossi plays her partner in crime to good effect. Its an uncompromising film but a realistic one notheless and the pace of the film never drops.
