The serotonin rush was REAL during this movie. Heartfelt, meaningful, and hits home. I love how they show how sometimes parents don't always succeed in being supportive, which really hit home, and also Alberto's situation with his father (also hitting home for many others), but still shows a happy ending where parents are supportive of Luca's dreams and desires. It shows you how to cope with that difficult situation & gives a sense of hope for our future kids & how we'll treat/respect them.
The ending was so bittersweet. It's nice to see Luca chase his dreams despite having to leave behind his best friend (*insert eye emoji here*), and it's a very realistic scenario. No matter how much we want to, sometimes you can't just hop off the train last minute to spend forever with the one you love. They kept in touch and are growing/maturing closely without suffocating one another & creating an unhealthy codependency.
Perhaps I really am looking far too deep into a fish movie about gay sea monsters, but the movie left a mark in my heart that I gladly embrace. Beautiful, beautiful movie!!! New favorite, genuinely. (Also, as a teenager, this gave me the same serotonin rush as meeting new people, which reminded me how much I like to socialize!)
