Mr. Melvin's comment about Joaquin Phoenix's acceptance speech this morning really rubbed me the wrong way. He called it "weird" referencing an artist who is a master at his craft as someone less than himself. Im very proud of individuals who speak out for animal rights as well as gay rights and any other individual freedoms that are discriminated against including those against women. Perhaps Mr. Melvin doesn't really care about all the millions of calves that are murdered or thrown away alive in a dumpster at diary farms because people view their lives less than humans. We don't drink milk in our family or eat cheese or any other diary products because we too are aware of the value of every living animal and the value is equal in all life in the eyes of God. His comments were a slap in the face to every single person that supports and guards animals rights as precious. We too are believers of protecting animal rights just as Joaquin.
