Unlike the original or any of the previous versions of the story this one is dark cynical and pessimistic. Very little humanity or hope is depicted. The incessant handheld camera shots are an intrusion into the story and the composition of the actors work as an ensemble, although very good, lacks any artistic perspective from the audience viewpoint. Stargate was always a hopeful triumph for humanity. This one seems to fall far short and unfortunately promotes a negative vision of life.
