Awful… I have read and watched so many of Dickens works and feel the BBC have disgraced themselves with this present adaptation of Great Expectations. I feel that this version is so ‘made up’ and untrue to Dickens story, and sad that the BBC are once again using the ‘politically correct’ card by using as many black actors as possible that simply do not fit the part. The character of Estella is wrong and does not fit Dickens description of a beautiful young woman’. I agree that the book is dark and confrontational but this version has just gone a step too far. I won’t be watching the rest. Please BBC try to get it right next time.
