This is an incredibly dark, hopeless presentation that in some ways strives to capture the authenticity of the old west but anyone who knows their western history can quickly recognize how grossly it misses the mark. It is a modern, liberal, atheistic perspective that is projected onto the amazing canvas of the American west, leaving us with a picture of what life would be like in our world if such a perspective were the norm: a life devoid of joy, hope, or humanity. On the positive side, it has some really amazing scenery and the acting is really quite good. But save us all from the values and perspective it projects! And if you are going to be so real as to show a knife cutting into human flesh, how about getting real by giving us the real world of those who lived at that time? Not every native American was good and not every white person was a godless, selfish, psychopath!
