I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to share my thoughts on this one. I have indeed done the same thing and gone down the religious history, mythology, world religions and creationism route in my scholastic studies. I too have a deep and profound understanding of the Mormon faith, gospel and belief in Joseph Smith. I also studied all the other great religions filtered down to us throughout history, especially the Judaic texts and the book of Enoch (see dead sea scrolls). It always amazes me that religion has been a leading cause of conflict throughout history, be it in the bible, book of Mormon or even the crusades and the inquisition. Why would any belief in a pathway to enlightenment, perfection or Godliness be so thwart with battles, wars, slavery, murder and other horrendous conflict? It all dawned on me many years ago that free agency or free will is a gift given to us upon creation. We can use it to create or destroy without intervention from God or any other supernatural force as promised. How quickly we forget that mankind has historically chosen destruction. No one path is right for everyone, so don't even try to pick the right or most true church. It doesn't matter. The journey is inside ourselves to figure out how to grow and improve ourselves, in whatever way speaks to us. Ok enough of all that...back to the movie. I fully understand the questions being pitted against these young sisters...the answer is the freedom of religious belief lives in our own minds, so can it also be a prison. All things balance in the universe but its up to us to find out what that balance is and where to find it for each of us. Each religion or belief system gives us a path to follow or a start on a journey to improve ourselves. You have to find which path brings you closer to your own perfection as a human being. I am not going to play psychological games with people and test their faith when faced with death but I will just say, go find out for yourselves. The answers are out there but never in just one path of religious thought or denomination. Be the very best person you can possibly be. I wish this revelation would bind us all in acceptance of one another but it never has and never will. Great Movie. Highly recommended.
