The story relies on a series of astronomical coincidences, which lead to events that mirror the first movie, but with a lot of sloppy details. How is the son of Maximus also suddenly a start gladiator? It's just so absurd. They could have and should have gone in another direction and then maybe ended up in the coliseum at some point, but for it to have almost the exact same plot is just bad.

Self hating, simping, white-knighting, masochistic, sub-fettish writers ironically self-pleasuring themselves in the name of female empowerment. The guys who wrote this movie are the same guys who cause the problems.
