This movie was surprisingly phenomenal. The trailers made it seem like it was going to be a band of young adults on a Sci-Fi adventure making terrible decisions leading to their doom, but it was quite the opposite. All the characters (while some unlikable) make informed decisions and adds to the realism which is so crucial in a Sci-Fi setting.
The film was able to stay true to the original, employing a “less is more” approach. They’re not show casing a CGI Xenomorph every chance they get, so when it appears in all its practical glory, it’s terrifying. There were also elements of the game Alien: Isolation incorporated into the movie, adding to the overall suspense.
Lastly, this film has one of the most harrowing final acts in recent memory. The last 10 minutes left me with my hand over my mouth for almost the entire duration.
I am extremely grateful to the cast and crew for bringing the Alien franchise back to its former glory. Go see this movie!
